Animals, Laudato Si’, and the Call of Creation Thursday, April 23rd 2026
Does our faith demand a more radical kind of kindness
toward the creatures we share the earth with?

Join Root & Branch for an inspiring evening in our Laudato Si’ series as we welcome Fr Terry Martin, a leading voice for animal justice, author of the acclaimed new book Animals in Heaven? A Catholic Pastoral Response to Questions About Animals’ and, last year, recipient of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)'s Guiding Light Award for his leadership in urging the Catholic Church to condemn bullfighting.

Father Terry is a frequent contributor to The Tablet, where he often writes about the intersection of Catholic theology and animal ethics. He also writes for the Catholic Herald and outlets such as Sarx (Christian Animal Welfare).
He is a regular speaker at theological conferences, animal rights events and parish meetings. In 2024, he was a speaker at the Annual Oxford Summer School on Animal Ethics, widely recognised as the premier international forum for academic inquiry into animal ethics.
And there's more!
